The high society of Buenos Aires proved generous during the exposition. The house of “Loco Loti” still existed, having a bizarre clientele. It attracted a lot of people, particularly Argentine ladies who admired his welcoming treatment.
Towards 4 in the afternoon he would spike up with morphine, madly joyful, he would take the ladies by the elbow, guide them through his shop and convince them that his furniture was the latest fad in Paris.
Many ladies would let themselves be convinced and bought off him. Many though of him as a celebrity as he had worked in Paris as an upholsterer in Place Vendome.
Never the less he was no more than a morphine addict that died a madman in his country of birth in the city of Naples. His foreman, Lagardere, continued with the business for a few years and finally abandoned it.
In 1910 the 21 years of commerce and industry which I established soon after my arrival in Argentina in 1889 come to an end, leaving my company in very good shape and in the hands of my three sons Augusto, Jose and Gabriel.
